About GCET  
 

To avoid multiplicity and duplication of the tests & to facilitate students offering fair opportunity, Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET) was planned and held for the first time in July 2002. For all the seven Universities namely, Gujarat University, MS University, SP University, North Gujarat University, South Gujarat, Saurashtra University, Bhavnager University and their affiliated self finance colleges & Deemed Universities offering app. 2100 seats in MBA and app. 2050 seats in MCA, GCET is conducted. Every year one of the University acts as a nodal agency and manages the complete affairs. Separate tests are conducted for MBA and MCA on two consecutive Sundays in the month of June/July. Students need to apply separately for GCET-MBA and GCET-MCA. Common merit list is prepared separately for both MBA and MCA and centralize counseling & admission process is followed.

Eligibility : Graduate students with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST students) aggregate are eligible to apply for the test subject to fulfilling at least one of the following criteria.

I Student must have passed graduation from one the University located in Gujarat state.
II Student must have passed 12th board (GSEB/CBSE/ICSE) from a school located in Gujarat state.

The students who are in their final year of graduation are also eligible for the test. There is no age limit nor there is attempt limit.

Test Centers : GCET is conducted at Ahmedabad, Baroda, Bhavnager, Paran, Rajkot, Surat & Vallabh Vidyanager.

Language of the test :Test is conducted in English and Gujarati. Students have to exercise the option at the time of filing the application form.

Evaluation :  All the question carry equal weightage. There is negative making as well. For each correct answer student gets 1 mark and for each incorrect answer 0.25 mark is dedicated.

Notification : Notification for GVET appear in the newspapers in the month of April/May.
